On 13th of July, 2020 AIDA bid farewell to Bro. Sunny Joseph who was associated with AIDA over a decade as its Asst. Director and Executive Director; and it welcomed its new Executive Director Fr. Roy George. The program commenced with the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. C. T. Varghese, Rector, Don Bosco, Dimapur. In his homily Fr. Varghese shared the qualities of Bro. Sunny and the many sacrifices he made during his stay in AIDA, he also said that Bro Sunny was committed in his responsibilities and did his work with perfection.
The Holy Eucharist was followed by the welcome and farewell program in which Mr. Lawrence Guria welcomed the august gathering. Mr. Augustus Kujur in his speech welcomed all the present for the programme and the new Executive Director Fr. Roy George and shared a brief profile of Fr. Roy George.
Fr. Nebu Mathew, Economer, Dimapur Province and Director of AIDA, shared his experiences and association with Fr. Roy George and Bro. Sunny Joseph. He mentioned that he found Bro. Sunny to be very meticulous and precise in the works assigned to him. Fr. Nebu Mathew said that Fr. Roy George is well experienced in the administration as he worked many years as administrator of Don Bosco College Maram, building the college to its present state, besides his other responsibilities as a lecturer & Director of BIIT; and as Rector of Don Bosco college and Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Kohima, Nagaland. He said that with all these experiences Fr. Roy George will take AIDA to new heights.
Fr. T. T. Joseph (Mission Procurator and Assistant Director of AIDA) shared his association with Bro. from the time they were together in Kohima, he also said that Bro Sunny is very focused and meticulous in planning. Thus, he found no obstacle in continuing the work during Bro. Sunny’s absence.
Fr. Roy George thanked the AIDA family for the warm welcome. He thanked Bro. Sunny Joseph, the out-going Executive Director of AIDA for the commitment, dedication and passion with which Bro Sunny Joseph served the poor people in the various villages and the youth as the Executive Director of AIDA. Fr. Roy George, especially thanked Bro. Sunny Joseph for the great role he played in skilling the young people through Don Bosco tech. skill training programmes. He said that words are too inadequate to convey all that Bro. Sunny has done for AIDA and through AIDA. Fr. Roy George, assured that as the new Executive Director of AIDA, that he would carry forward all best practices and the legacy that Bro. Sunny and his predecessors have given to AIDA. He asked for the cooperation of all the AIDA staff in working together for the under privilege.
Mr. Pulicharan Muchahary presented a tribute to Bro. Sunny Joseph through a video presentation – a compilation of video messages sent by staff members who were unable to make it to the program. Mr. Pfokho John delivered the farewell speech on behalf of the staff to Bro. Sunny Joseph where he shared the journey of Bro. Sunny Joseph in AIDA. He recalled his and some other staff members association with Bro. Sunny with AIDA since the year 2005, when he joined AIDA as the Assistant Director. He on behalf of the AIDA family thanked him for his graciousness and conveyed him best wishes for his new assignment.
Bro. Sunny Joseph shared his experiences with AIDA since 2005, and he credited his success to the team of AIDA. He thanked Fr. Nebu Mathew for the guidance and support for all these years. He also thanked the Salesian community of the Don Bosco Dimapur to which he belonged for the love and support for all these years. He thanked Fr. T. T. Joseph for taking care of the office for four months during his absence. He also shared his association with Fr. Roy George since 1988 in Rua Home, Jorhat, he also said that Fr. Roy is a very hard working person, generous and demands perfection and good results. He welcomed Fr. Roy to AIDA and wished him all the best. He also thanked Fr. Jose Kuvuchira (Provincial and President of AIDA) his council and board members because they guided him to carry forward whatever work was assigned to him as the Executive Director of AIDA. He said working in AIDA he has felt, seen and experienced the fire and the urge to do something for the society among the staff. Bro. Sunny Joseph thanked the staff and requested them to continue to work for the less privileged ones.
At the end Mr. Didiam Xalxo thanked the august gathering for their participation for programme. He also thanked Fr. C. T. Varghese, Fr. Nebu Mathew and all the fathers for their valuable presence for the occasion. He also thanked the staff for making the necessary arrangements for the program and for taking responsibility to their assigned work. The programme was concluded with a lunch for all.
