ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) in collaboration with the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control Program (NCVBDCP), Peren District, Nagaland, organized an awareness program on Malaria Elimination and Eradication at the Beisumpuikam Village Council Hall, Peren.
The programme adopted Beisumpuikam and Jalukie Zangdi villages in Peren district to eradicate malaria and vector-borne diseases, highlighting the commitment of both AIDA and NCVBDCP to ensure the villages remain malaria-free. It will focus on promoting healthy living, disease prevention, and environmental hygiene to create a healthier and more sustainable future for Peren district.
As the special guest and keynote speaker, Dr. Hedungkiebe District Vector Borne Diseases Control Officer (DVBO) Peren, emphasized the importance of health awareness, personal responsibility, and disciplined habits in preventing and eliminating diseases. He highlighted that these initial steps are crucial for the programme's effectiveness and sustainability. He also expressed gratitude to AIDA Don Bosco Dimapur for selecting Beisumpuikam and Jalukie Zangdi villages of Peren district for this initiative, with a goal of eliminating and eradicating malaria by 2026.
Speaking on the occasion Rev. Fr. Roy George SDB, Executive Director AIDA, the Guest of Honour, stressed the villagers' primary role in owning and sustaining the programme's activities. He pointed out that while the programme is time-bound and resources are limited, the villagers' leadership and active participation are vital for the programme's success. AIDA and NCVBDCP will support the villagers by addressing gaps and challenges.
The Beisumpuikam Village Council Chairman, on behalf of both villages, expressed appreciation to AIDA Dimapur and NCVBDCP Peren for selecting their villages for this crucial awareness programme. In his vote of thanks, Mr. Lanthou Mark Gonmei, Programme Manager, AIDA Dimapur, called for collaboration and cooperation between the implementing organizations and the villages to achieve a positive and lasting impact.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 63 leaders and villagers from Beisumpuikam and Jalukie Zangdi villages. As part of the programme, a special screening for Malaira was conducted by the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control Program team, during which 26 villagers from Beisumpuikam were screened.
