On 15th June 2024, ANMA Integrated Development Association-Child Friendly Dimapur organized Poem Recitation Competition as part of Children campaign 2024 for Child Rights Club members from different localities and Institutions on the theme, “Break Free: Choose Health, Not Harm” at AIDA training hall, Dimapur, Nagaland. The event aimed to raise awareness about substance abuse while providing a platform for children to showcase their talents.
Esteemed judges for the event were Dr. Alem Sangtam, President of the Nagaland Theological Colleges Association and member of the Civil Society Forum, CFD, AIDA, Mr. Sebi Chacko, Project Coordinator at Don Bosco Job Placement Network and Ms. Mechietonü Agnes Kiso, Civil Society Mobilization Officer, CFD, AIDA.
Ms. Sapuni from Government Middle School, Midland, clinched the 1st prize, followed by Mr. Mulai, also from Government Middle School, Midland, in 2nd place. Ms. Taochi Kangshou from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School secured the 3rd position. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 54 students, teachers and youth.
The event was skillfully moderated by Ms. Shemang S. Phom. Additionally, Ms. Garrol Lotha, Project Coordinator, Child Friendly Dimapur, AIDA, delivered an inspiring speech on "Life as a Gift” and has enlightened them to abstain from Substance abuse and live a healthy and happy life.
Overall, the young poets in the making has enthralled the audience with their articulation and talents while reciting their poems, providing a significant opportunity to engage the community and highlight the talents of young students while addressing the critical issue of substance abuse.
