AIDA- Child Friendly Dimapur Organized an awareness creation programme on 1st June 2022, in Signal Angami Panchayat hall to commemorate the World No Tobacco Day under the theme “Protect the environment”. The awareness programme was conducted with the active participation of Child Rights Club members from Signal Angami Club B. Mr. Badal Lama, a member of Child Rights Club Signal Angami (Club B) delivered a short speech on the ill effects and consequences of consuming tobacco products. As part of the programme a creative activity of poster painting campaign for the Child Rights Club Members was conducted on the World No Tobacco Day.

Mr.Dziesezelie, Civil Society Mobilization Officer, AIDA- Child Friendly Dimapur, while addressing the children shared on the types of tobacco, ill effects of consuming tobacco and briefed them on Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Product Act (COTPA) 2003. Focusing on the World No Tobacco Day 2022 theme “Protect the environment”, he shared on the impact of tobacco on our environment from cultivation, production, distribution and waste after consuming it. He therefore, encouraged the children to avoid consumption of tobacco products and act as an anti-tobacco ambassador at home as well as in the society.

Later, the CRC members displayed the posters painted by the children at various locations within the community to create awareness on the impact of tobacco consumption as well as promote tobacco prevention and cessation.
